Czech healthcare provider opens digital health clinic for the entire population using Doctrin
EUC is a Czech outpatient healthcare provider with services for both private and occupational health services. They have delivered healthcare for more than 20 years and are the Czech Republic’s largest primary care provider. Through the EUC Virtual Clinic they help patients digitally using Doctrin’s platform for chat and video consultations.
The EUC has been a pioneer in digital healthcare in the Czech Republic, but like many healthcare providers in Sweden, they have been limited by legislation which doesn’t reimburse healthcare providers for digital consultations.
According to the Czech Ministry of Health, the number of confirmed COVID19 cases were 4591 (April 6th) including 72 casualties. In order to limit the spread of the infection, mobility has now been limited to the most essential activities such as shopping for food or medicines and both elementary school and higher education have been closed.
Due to COVID19 and the urgent need to maintain care capacity, public insurance providers have updated their guidelines so that digital consultations now are reimbursed similar to physical ones, allowing Czech doctors to both diagnose and prescribe medication digitally.
The EUC is now offering their virtual clinic to the entire population of 10,500,000 inhabitants. The patients who contact the EUC digital health clinic are primarily patients who seek care for reasons other than COVID19 but who in the current circumstances find it difficult to get in touch with their usual doctor.
“The value of digital healthcare is particularly clear in the extreme situation we are in and therefore we are happy to be able to strengthen the capacity of Czech healthcare”, says Daniel Soukup, Head of Virtual Clinic, EUC
At present, 40 physicians work in the platform but the plan is to educate more doctors to manage more than 1000 consultations daily.
